I Love a Killer
Marquiette Hotel. Front lobby, 7:00p.m 21/02/08 Jack arrived at exactly 7:00p.m. I had to credit the guy for punctuality. Dressed in a simple black long-sleeved shirt and black pants and yet he looked stunning. Not wanting to look too eager, I just pulled out the first dress I could find. "Wow Miss Osborne, you look beautiful. I like the dress," Jack said when I neared him. Ok…so maybe it was the fifth dress. "Ditto." Jack chuckled, "Not much of a talker are you?" I rolled my eyes. Jack took me by the hand and led me to the car. It was a black BMW. He was rich. But like a gentle man, he opened the door for me and I slid inside. "Are you ready?" I nodded as he started the car. He chuckled, "So…who’s paying for that hotel you’re living in? It struck me as too fancy for a girl like you." I shrugged, "A friend of mine." "I see…Tell me a bit more about yourself Miss Osborne." "Can we drop the formality? It’s really getting on my nerves." Jack laughed, "Care to tell me what doesn’t get on your nerves?" "Where you’re concerned, nothing much." "You flatter me…" ************************************** Peyton Residence. 21/02/08 7:48p.m. We arrived at his house well after 7:30. His house was huge. It definitely was not a mansion, but it wasn’t a cottage either. Brick walls, high security system. He knew how to live in style. He unlocked the door and invited me in. I saw his father there putting on his coat. "Nice to see you again Miss Osborne…" he said. "Same with you Mr…. Peyton." If Jack noticed the uneasy tension between me and his father he didn’t let it show. "Hey dad, were you just leaving?" Mr. Peyton nodded, "I’ll be back in 3 hours. Have fun. But not too much fun," he said with a meaningful glance towards me. Jack nodded, "Sure thing dad." He gestured to the room ahead of me. I tried not to gasp... but it was just that everything was so…. Spectacular, it’s like a castle rather than a house. "Do you want to catch a fly?"
I looked at him and then realized that my mouth was open so I snapped it shut quickly. "Shall we have dinner?" he said. I nodded quickly before I could embarrass myself even more. Jack led me out to the balcony and slid the seat out for me and I sat in it. He sat opposite from me. He filled the glass with coke and said, "So, tell me a bit about yourself." I shrugged, "Nothing much to tell." He chuckled, "Ok then, I guess I’ll have to spoon feed you the questions. Let’s start with…what brings you to Elenore High?" "Business," I answered bluntly. "Business?" Jack said, "mm… I didn’t realize school required ‘business’." "It’s complicated." "Isn’t everything?" We regarded each other in silence. The rest of the meal went fine with a question every now and then. "So…what does your dad do in his spare time?" I asked. Jack cocked his head, "Why do you care?" "I don’t." He chuckled, "I don’t know, he owns several other businesses. Don’t tell me why he chose to a principal as another job." I smiled and sipped my drink. "You know Miss Osborne," he lifted his glass, "you’re my type of girl." I was just about to answer him when something was thrown at us. It landed on our table and had a flashing red light. The beeping noise got louder and louder.
I grabbed Jack by the hand and pulled him away, "Get down!" Just then the table exploded. We both covered our heads as the wood splinters sailed over our heads. Jack swore and grabbed me by the arm, "Are you all right?" I opened my mouth when another bomb was thrown at us, "Run!" he shouted. We sprinted for the door just as it exploded. Chaos reigned. Bullets were suddenly leaving splinters on the wall as people in black suits emerged from every room carrying guns. I picked a wrong day to wear a dress. Jack pulled me upstairs and kicked the bed room door open. He pulled all the blinds shut and opened a cupboard. It was a safe. He fiddled with the lock!
and then opened it and pulled out a gun. Jack tossed one at me and I caught it, "Aim, then fire." I nodded at him. He gave me a bullet proof jacket and I put it on. I had used a gun before, but what I was really curious about was how HE knew how to use one. After he finished gearing up, Jack motioned me to be quiet. I nodded and followed behind him as he led the way out. As Jack looked around one corner, bullets were instantly fired at him . Jack swore and loaded his gun, "Follow me closely," He whispered in my ear. I nodded. He silently walked to the edge of the wall and took a deep breath, "ready?" "Yes." He turned around the corner quickly while firing constantly while I fired at my sides. Suddenly, someone tackled me and I fell to the ground. I elbowed him in the face and kicked him in the stomach the person groaned and fell to the ground. I quickly picked up my gun and started shooting again. I didn’t aim, there wasn’t enough time too without becoming an open target. Man after man fell down. Jack was just finishing of one guy when I saw another one try to sneak up behind him.
